The office of the Dean Examinations is responsible for the conduct of the Continuous Assessment Tests (CAT) for all the semesters of all the degree programmes offered by the college. Conforming to the norms established by Anna University for the non-autonomous stream and the COE for the autonomous stream, the college conducts three assessments during every semester. 

The CATs are conducted in a centralized manner, with the office of the Dean Examinations fixing the time- table after due consultation with all concerned and also taking care of the seating arrangements and invigilation duties.

Two tests are conducted on a single day, with a preparatory holiday in between.

 The pattern of the question papers is as follows: (50 marks and 90 minutes duration)

 

Autonomous Stream

•  5 Part A questions (5x2=10 marks)

•  1 Part B question (1x8=8 marks) – internal choice

•  2 Part C questions (2x 16=32 marks) – internal choice 

• 5 Part A questions (5x2=10 marks)

• 2 Part B question (2x13=26 marks) – internal choice

• 1 Part C questions (1x 14=14 marks) – internal choice

 

 The internal assessment marks will be based on the 3 assessments each of which comprises test and assignment

 Assignments are of two components – (i) Multiple Choice questions and  (ii) activity based and decided by the faculty.

 The distribution of the end-semester marks is as follows:
