SEPTEMBER-2018

On 12th September 2018, Mr Amrithanathan Narayanan, Co- Founder, SAFEW Technologies, delivered a Seminar on “Design Approaches for an IOT based Business System”

The welcome address was given by Deepikha.K, II year, followed by the introduction of Chief Guest by Ramya Ranganathan , Vice- President/ AIT.

The Chief Guest, Mr Amrithanathan Narayanan began the lecture by citing real time examples which leverage the implementation of Internet of Things in various fields. He went on to differentiating Internet of Things and Internet of Everything. He added that due to the Client’s ignorance on IoT and its diverse applications, the clients are not open to the new ideas and implementation of systems using the power of IoT. Hence educating the clients first is important.

In his experience, he has figured out that it is crucial to strictly adhere to the product specifications specified by the client and not incorporate the designer’s own innovations and ideas. He emphasized on certain key aspects on how a product should be and the evaluation metrics for the product’s assessment.

He spoke briefly on the topics like bus tracking system using IoT, how IoT actually works and current company’s point of view on IoT. He concluded his talk by highlighting the future prospects of IoT in technological advancements in the forthcoming years. The students had a great insight on Internet of Things and acquired many project ideas to implement the same from the one and half hours of his lecture.

HOD i/c requested the chief guest regarding the industry collaboration & mentorship for the students on IoT based projects. She also requested his consent for students’ industry project.

SEPTEMBER 2018

Library sponsor to Govt. School by S.Keerthivasan,II year IT

Third Library sponsor to Govt. School by S.Keerthivasan,II year IT Keerthivasan, a student from II year IT, has ventured an entrepreneurial initiative to promote and market pencils, manufactured by 'ZOYO' company, across the state of Tamil Nadu. These pencils are made of waste news papers so as to save trees and recycle papers so that a great deal of tree conservation and waste management can be achieved. Moreover, these pencils carry seeds of herbs and vegetable yielding plants so that when buried under the soil, after use, it will get germinated to be a plant. This qualifies these pencils to be 100% Eco-friendly. “Library for a School” - is the moto for Mr. Keerthivasan who works tirelessly with the aim to sponsor Tamil books for atleast 50 libraries in government schools in villages within 3 years. The sponsored libraries are populated with books worth Rs.5000 and the collections include ones written by former president Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, Science and history books that would benefit the students. He has sponsored books to three libraries so far. He Sponsored Tamil books to Government Middle School, Sila Vattam village, Kanchipuram district on 7th July 2018. Secondly he sponsored Tamil books to Government Higher Secondary School Thirupanjali village, Trichy district on 10th Aug 2018. Mr. Keerthivasan inaugurated the third Library in the premises of Polatchiamman Government middle school in Arakkonam municipality on 22nd September 2018 and sponsored books to the middle school.(Article came in the Dinamani newspaper ,dated: 24/9/18) The Department of Information Technology is proud of his intention and hard work and the College congratulates him on his achievements and wishes him for all his future endeavors.

Mr.E.Sakthivel AP/IT, in association with placement training cell organized guest lecture on “ 20 hours Hachkathon”. The  event was held on 1st and 2nd August 2018. The Hackathon witnessed 21 teams with 63 IV Yr IT students’ participants from the department of Information Technology. Prof. S. Krishnan,Dean Academics and Head of Department of Maine Engineering of SVCE inaugurated the event as the Chief Guest and Shri. Praveen kumar, Co-founder of Klenty, a Sales automation software development company, graced the Valedictory function as the Chief Guest.

 

Mr.E.Sakthivel AP/IT, in association with placement training cell organized guest lecture on “Industry 4.0 (Analytics Skills Overview)” during 27th July 2018 and the speaker was Mr. Rajkumar Kaliyaperumal, Delivery Manager, LATENTVIEW Analytics. The Guest Lecture was attended by 27 III year students of Department of Information Technology.

 

Mr.E.Sakthivel AP/IT, in association with placement training cell organized guest lecture on “Recent Trends in IT” during 17th July 2018. The Guest Lecture was attended by 41 faculty members of CS and IT department from SVCE. The speakers were Mr. Balaji Muthukumarasamy, Director, Hubstream India & Mr. Devarajan Muthukumarasamy, CTO, Hubstream India Chennai.

 

On the 05th of July 2018, the Association of Information Technologists (AIT) was inaugurated by Mr. Hemant Kumar M, Great Lakes Institute of Management,nd he  delivered Special Talk on “Higher Education in India and abroad”.

MARCH 2018

Two Days Workshop on React-Up
9th - 10th March 2018

The Department of Information Technology organized Two Days Workshop on React-Up during 09th and 10th March, 2018. The resource person for the workshop was Mr.Vinoth Pandian, Research Assistant from RWTH Aachen University, Germany. Ms.P.Nirmala, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Technology welcomed all participants and guest. Dr.S.Ramesh Babu, Professor and Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering inaugurated the workshop and addressed the gathering. Dr.V.Vidhya, Head,IT gave an introductory talk emphasizing the importance of the workshop. Introduction about chief guest was given by Ms. P.Sharon Femi.
After inauguration, the resource person started the session with a short note on Web Development and Recent tools and techniques used for Web Development. After the introduction, he elaborated about the workshop agenda to the participants. He explained about the Web Development tools like React, Nodejs, ESlint and NPM. He instructed the participants to configure the software required for the creation of the webpage using React and NPM. In the Afternoon session, participants coded along with him for creating the basic components in the outline of their webpage.
On the second day, he introduced flex box, a tool used to divide the webpages into various modules and ESlint, the package used to remove unwanted spaces to compress the code. Students were taught to upload their own personal information in the webpage they designed. He taught about states and five steps to host their website using FireBase and all participants were able to successfully host it. He clarified the doubts without any hesitation and explained with patience. He shared his knowledge with pleasure.
This workshop was intended to provide opportunity for faculty members and students for upgrading their knowledge in the area of Web Development. The workshop was conducted with 40 students and 6 faculty members from SVCE.
The program was very well received by the participants, as all the sessions were practical. The workshop was very much appreciated by the participants. As a concluding note we express our heartfelt thanks to our Management, Principal and HoD for their great support for the conduct of the programme.

 

FEBRUARY 2018

Strategy on Entrepreneurship

On the 20th of February 2018, Association of Information Technologist(AIT) organized a seminar on “Strategy on Entrepreneurship“ by Mr. Madhu Gurunathan Nagarajan, CEO of Al-Hedaf groups,UAE, Coordinated by Mr.T. Sukumar, AP/IT and Mr.K. Suresh, AP/IT

The event started with a Prayer song by Nivethitha, III Year IT student, followed by welcome address by Malavika.H, Treasurer/AIT, then the Introduction of Chief Guest was given by the coordinator Mr. T. Sukumar, AP/IT.

Dr V.Vidhya, HOD i/c /IT addressed the gathering and insisted the students to grab the oppurtunity and capture the ideas and strategies on entrepreneurship from the talk.

Mr. Madhu Gurunathan Nagarajan started his lecture by briefing the various trends and strategies in entrepreneurship. He motivated the students to identify the current problems exist in societies from lower level employees rather than top level management. He advised the students to work on unsolved problems such as waste management ,IOT based security projects etc and implement their innovative ideas to be a successful entrepreneur. He explained how entrepreneurship pertains to recognise, assess and exploit attractive opportunities using innovation, leveraging risk, and engaging in effective competitive action. He gained the attention of the entire audience by sharing his experience. It was then followed by an interactive session where students raised their questions and clarified their doubts.

The guest was honoured by Dr.V.Vidhya, HOD i/c /IT and the vote of thanks was given by Ms.Kiruba Wesley AIT coordinator.

JANUARY 2018


A Cryptic guide to bits, coins, blocks and chains and Developing Global Ready software

On the 30 th of January 2017 Mr.Sarveswaran Meenakshi Sundaram, Architect in Ericcson, delivered a lecture on “A Cryptic guide to bits, coins, blocks and chains” which wasfollowed by a lecture on “Developing Global Ready software” by Mr.Kamalakannan Ranganathan, Senior Architect, Ericcson.They were introduced by Ms.N.Hindumathy, President/AIT'.

The Head of the Department motivated the students to develop their knowledge on crypto currency.

The first session lasted for about an hour. Mr. Sarveswaran started the lecture with the basics of bit coins and chains. He then explained the market reality and ended the lecture with a question and answer session. The students got an insight about bit coins and crypto currency.

The second session was taken by Mr. Kamalakannan. He gave the students an insight of what are the current market expectations from a software developer. He also mentioned the rights and wrongs that are commonly needed to be done for making the software global ready.

AICTE Sponsored National Seminar On Deep Learning for Big Data Analytics

Department of Information Technology organized AICTE Sponsored National Seminar On “Deep Learning for Big Data Analytics” on 09th and 10th November 2017. The Programme was inaugurated by Dr.C.Chandra Sekhar, Professor, Indian Institute of Technology Madras in the presence of Dr. K.R.Santha, Vice Principal, Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering. Ms.A.Kala, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Technology welcomed all participants and guest.     Dr.V.Vidhya, Coordinator of the event gave an introductory talk emphasizing the importance of the seminar. Dr.K.R.Santha, Vice Principal, Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering addressed the gathering and motivated the participants.

The first session on “Deep Learning Models” was handled by Dr.C.Chandra Sekhar, Professor, Indian Institute of Technology Madras. The session opened with an introduction to Machine Learning and enlightened the participants the need for the emergence of Deep Learning.

The second session was handled by Dr.V.Vidhya, Head-Incharge/IT, Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering. She delivered a talk on “Deep Learning and its Applications”.

The third session was handled by Ms.K.Sujitha, Sub System Architect, Ericsson India Global Services Pvt. Ltd. She delivered a talk on “Real Time Analytics on Big Data”. The session mainly focused on big data analytics particularly pertaining to telecommunication domain.

The fourth session was handled by Mr.N.Harikumar, Researcher, Ericsson India Global Services Pvt. Ltd. The session was on “Deep Learning for Near Network Analytics”. The deep learning technology landscape and architecture was the main focus.

The second day of the seminar started with an introductory talk by Ms.B.T.Shobana, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Technology. Session five was handled by Dr.R.S.Milton, Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, SSN College of Engineering. Dr.R.S.Milton, eminent person in the field of Deep Learning demonstrated “Open Source Tools for Deep Learning”. Languages and tools for deep learning such as Python, Anaconda, NumPy, SciPy, Scikit and Pandas were demonstrated and practically explained. Specifically demonstration on Tensor Flow with the dataset was given by the speaker.

The sixth session was handled by Mr.K.B.Sundhara Kumar, Research Associate, SSN College of Engineering. He delivered a talk on “Building a recommender system using Restricted Boltzmann Machines and PyTorch”. He demonstrated RBM using Pytorch with the dataset.

The final session was handled by Dr.S.Ganesh Vaidyanathan, Professor and Principal, Department of Electronics and communication Engineering, Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering. His Talk on “How Big and How Deep” was very informative that covered deep learning in details with supporting applications.

The Valedictory function was presided over by Dr.S.Ganesh Vaidyanathan, Principal, Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering. Dr.S.Ganesh Vaidyanathan delivered a brief note on research perspective. He awarded the certificates for all participants. Dr.V.Vidhya, Coordinator of the seminar thanked all participants. Ms.A.Kala, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Technology delivered the vote of thanks.

The program was very well received by the participants. The lecture sessions and the practical sessions were very much appreciated by the participants.





SEPTEMBER 2017

Report on Protocol 20e

On the 23rd of September 2017, the Association of Information Technologists (AIT) conducted National Level Technical Symposium – Protocol 20e. The event was inaugurated by Ms.G.Muthazhagi, Vice President-Delivery Support, Ramco Systems . She delivered a technical talk on “ERP-Next Gen and its benefits”. She was introduced by Ms.K.Kiruthika Devi, AIT Coordinator.

Ms.G.Muthazhagi has over 20 years of insightful experience across various facets & managing ERP business operations.

The Head of the Department extended a hearty welcome to Ms.G.Muthazhagi, Ramco Systems. HOD i/c appreciated the AIT coordinators and students for their effort in organizing the symposium and motivated them in their future endeavor and gave a brief note about the various achievements of the IT Department. The lamp was lit by the chief guest followed by the talk. The session lasted for about half an hour. She spoke about Enterprise Resource Planning and its benefits. The inaugural video of Protocol 20e was presented to the gathering portraying the work that went into organizing the symposium.

Ms.Kiruba Wesley, AIT Coordinator delivered the vote of thanks. The inaugural function came to an end with the presenting of memento to the chief guest by the Department Head in-charge.

Around 265 students from various colleges participated in the technical events. Code Storm, Design Tweak, Cryptics, Rubix, Paper-iT, Business Minds and Workshop on ReactJS were the technical events organized in the symposium. Mini projects were done by second year IT students and the demonstration of the projects were given by the project members.

The event came to an end with the valedictory function presided by Dr. R.B.Narayanan, Professor, Department of BioTechnology, SVCE. He appreciated the Department Head in-charge, AIT Coordinators, Faculty members and students for adhering to the rules of the Symposium. He motivated the students to participate in various technical events. Students who won first and second prizes in technical events were awarded with cash prizes and merit certificates by the chief guest.

Ms.M.Hindumathy, President/AIT delivered the vote of thanks. Chief guest was felicitated with a memento by the Department Head in-charge.

 



AUGUST 2017


Research Careers


On the 31st of August 2017, Association of Information Technology(AIT) & Association of Computer Engineers(ACE) jointly organized a guest lecture on "Research careers" byDr.Karthik Pattabiraman. He was introduced by Dr.V.Vidhya, HOD i/c/IT. Dr. Karthik Pattabiraman is currently employed as Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Columbia.


AIT President Ms. Hindhumathy delivered the welcome address. Dr V.Vidhya, HOD i/c/IT introduced the chief guest. He is an alumini of SVCE in the department of Information Technology. She insisted the students of IT and CS department to take the chief guest as an inspiration and pursue their career in research .


Guest of honour started the lecture with the introduction of Research career. He spoke in detail about the pros and cons of pursuing research. He also clarified about the various myths and facts about the research. He made the session interactive by answering the students who came up with doubts.

After the session, the students of III year & IV year IT had a one to one interaction with our alumnus in the IT conference hall.





AUGUST 2017


Firmware and its Concepts


On the 7th of August 2017, Mr.Venkataraman K delivered a lecture on "Firmware and its Concepts". He was introduced by Ms. Sahana Nagarajan, III year. Mr. Venkataraman is employed at the Microchip as Engineer 2. He is an expert in data structures and state machines, operating systems and computer networks. He has 4 years of work experience with Microchip Technology, heading many projects and analysing his responsibilities in the right manner to improve himself and the company as a whole.


The Head of the Department addressed the gathering and gave a short note on firm ware with real time examples. She then motivated the students to gain knowledge from the young and energetic speaker Mr. Venkataraman.


Guest of honour started the lecture with the introduction of Firmware and its working principles with real time examples. He explained about the coding part on embedded C. He gave a brief note on scheduling algorithms. He ended the session with a question and answer session.

JULY 2017


Internet of Things


On the 17thof July 2017, the Association of Information Technologists (AIT) was inaugurated by Mr. Sudharshan Srinivasan, R & D specialist, Nokia network, Finland.


He delivered a lecture on "Internet Of Things". He was introduced by AIT President Ms. M.Hindhumathi. Mr. Sudharshan is employed at the Nokia network’s SoC team as a R & D Specialist, specializing in Intellectual Property (IP) creation for 5G wireless systems. He is a leading data analyst and IOT professional. He is an expert in IOT and Data Analytics Trainer, worked with NOKIA, Qualcomm, and Microsoft in key positions.


The Head of the Department motivated the students to actively take part in the activities of AIT and engage the inner spark in them. She also said that both students as well as faculty members will be benefited from the activities of AIT. The lamp was lit by the chief guest and the introduction of office bearers was given by Ms.K.Kiruthika Devi, AIT coordinator.


The session lasted for about two hours. Guest of honour started the lecture with the introduction of IOT, architecture and standards. He gave a brief note on IOT hardware and software platforms. He also explained about the IOT communication and discussed few case studies on Data analytics.

Three Days Workshop on Animation and Videography


Three Days Workshop on Animation and Videography for Supporting Staff was organised by Department of Information Technology during 31st May 2017 to June 2nd 2017. Total of 35 staff participated in the event and it was sponsored by SVCE.





APRIL 2017


Transforming Data into Actionable Insights


On the 3rd of April 2017, Ms Anuradha Nagarajan delivered a lecture on "Transforming Data into Actionable Insights". She was introduced by Ms R.Hemavathy of III year IT, AIT member. Ms. Anuradha is a Group Project Manager in Infosys, Chennai. She is also a certified Health Care Professional.


The Head of the Department motivated the students by giving them a brief introduction about how Data Analytics is important in real time analysis. She also encouraged the students to think optimistically about the topic and presented the annual report. The session lasted for about an hour. Resource person started the lecture with an introduction about Data Analytics in Business Intelligence. She then explained the concepts of Data Analytics and its use. She explained the insights which could be included in a real time scenario and actions taken by working with the insights. The students got an insight on the importance of Data Analytics. Ms Anuradha spoke widely about data analytics in business relating to the real corporate world. She had various exuberant examples of the real time use of data analytics. A group activity was conducted where all the students participated actively getting the real meaning on how data analytics can be used in a real time activity. This session was followed by the main agenda of the event by distributing the certificates of appreciation to the Office Bearers.

MARCH 2017


Importance of Coding


On the 30th of March 2017, Mr Arun Nachiappan delivered a lecture on “Importance of Coding”. Arun was introduced by Hemavathy of III year IT, AIT member. Arun is currently working in Zoho Corporations, located in Chennai. He is an alumnus of our college.


The Head of the Department motivated the students by giving them a brief introduction about importance of coding. The session lasted for about an hour. Resource person started the lecture with the definition of engineering, What Engineers do? and quality of engineers. He then explained the concepts of problem solving, identifying problems, solving problems and programming .The lecture ended with a question and answer session. The students got an insight on the importance of coding. Followed by the guest lecture a coding event was conducted for the first year students on 31.03.2017.

Y.Mohamed Sirajudeen has been selected for the grant of SERB-DST Project "DigiCert: Data Security in Federated DigiCloud Environment using Homomorphic Technique" as Junior Research Fellow(JRF).




Hackathon on Digitalization


One Day Hackathon on Digitalization was organised by the Department of Information Technology in association with "National Cyber Defense Research Center" on 9th March 2017. More than 50 teams participated in the event.




Overview of Business Analytics and Its opportunities in the Market


On the 07th of March 2017, Mr Paul Arun and Mr Ramesh Babu delivered a lecture on "Overview of Business Analytics & Its opportunities in the Market". Mr Paul Arun & Mr Ramesh Babu was introduced by Hemavathy of III year IT, AIT treasurer. Mr Paul Arun is a CEO of KUDWI a Business Analytics Consulting and a training company. He has more than 16 years of experience in Business Development and strategy. Mr Paul Arun trains and mentor’s students in the Business analytics, Machine Learning and IOT domain . Mr Ramesh Babu is a Data Scientist , IOT professional. Mr Ramesh babu has over 12 years of experience in IT industry (CTS) spanning different functions like Analytics Marketing, Customer Analytics, Time series Modeling, Market research, Statistical validations, Market basket analysis, Sales Strategy and Operations, Program Management and Business development.


The Head of the Department motivated the students by giving them a brief introduction about Data Analytics and its application in an electronic device. The session lasted for about an hour. Resource person Mr Paul Arun started the lecture with an introduction about Data Analytics. Mr Paul Arun then explained the concepts of business analytics with various examples. He explained the concept of market basket analysis with an example. Mr Ramesh Babu explained the concept of IOT(Internet of Things). The students got an insight on Internet of Things and Data Analytics.

Next Generation Cloud Technologies


On the 25th of February 2017, Mr Tarun Chinmai delivered a lecture on "Next Generation Cloud Technologies". Tarun was introduced by Harish of II year IT, AIT executive member. Tarun is currently working in Akamai Technologies, located in Chennai. He is an alumnus of our college. Previously he was with HeroTalkies as an Android developer. He is specialized in Deep Packet Inspection and Container technologies.


The Head of the Department motivated the students by giving them a brief introduction about cloud and its usage. The session lasted for about an hour. Resource person started the lecture with an introduction about Next Gen Cloud Technologies. He then explained the concepts of virtualization and its types. He explained the concept of containers and its usage in various applications . The lecture ended with a question and answer session. The students got an insight on the current technologies of the cloud.

Cyber Security as a Profession


On the 3rd of February 2017, Mr Shyam Sundar delivered a lecture on “Cyber Security as a Profession”. He was introduced by Mr Prem Kumar, III year IT 'B'. He is currently working in Ernest and Young as a Cyber Security Analyst, located in Chennai. He is an alumnus of our department. He has done projects related to Cyber Security. The Head of the Department motivated the students to take interest in Cyber Security and gave many positive points. The session lasted for about an hour. Resource person started the lecture with the topic Cyber Security as a Profession. He then explained the need of Cyber Security in the present world secnario and ended the lecture with a query session. The students got an insight on the topic of Cyber Security.

Making the Right Choice for Career


On the 27th of January 2017, Mr.Venkatesh Yeshwanth delivered a lecture on "Making the right choice for career". He was introduced by the student Ms.R.Hemavathy, III year IT 'A'. Mr. Venkatesh Yeshwanth is a student currently pursuing his Masters in Computer Science at Miami University, located in Ohio,USA. He is an alumnus of our department. He had recently become an entrepreneur by expanding his family business in dealing with Waste Paper Recycling .


Dr N. Kumaratharan, Professor/IT motivated the students and emphasized the importance of pursuing higher studies.


The session lasted for about an hour. Beginning with, Mr Yeshwanth motivated the students to make the right decisions in choosing their career . He then explained the importance of pursuing masters degree in abroad, choosing right universities, job opportunities and provided the links to the resources that benefit the students . The students got insight on the actual procedure to pursue higher studies in abroad.

Convergence of the Physical and Digital


On the 28th of September 2016, Mr.Ramesh Chandrasekar delivered a lecture on "Convergence of the Physical and Digital". He was introduced by Mr.Sriram of II yr IT 'B'. Mr.Ramesh Chandrasekar has extensive experience in multiple areas of the industry such as automation,digitization and artificial intelligence. He is the Head of Delivery at L&T Infotech , for the Nordic geography.


The Head of the Department inspired the students to participate actively and make optimum use of these opportunities.


The session lasted for about an hour. He started by explaining how physical media is slowing being replaced by a digital infrastructure. He also gave an overview of how the IT industry will look in the next decade and suggested the students topics for research.The lecture ended with a Q&A session with the students. Mr.Sriram of II year IT 'B' delivered the vote of thanks.

National Level Technical Symposium - PROTOCOL 19e


On the 3rd of September 2016, the Association of Information Technologists (AIT) conducted National Level Technical Symposium – Protocol 19e. The event was inaugurated by Ms.Sukanya Sivakumar. She delivered a talk on “Technology Innovation & Entrepreneurship”. She was introduced by Ms.Uthra.V, Vice President AIT. Ms.Sukanya Sivakumar is a Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Write IT Solutions Pvt Ltd. Ms.Sukanya has over 15 years of experience in the areas of eLearning and Instructor-led training development, learning technology, Courseware Design Consulting, Strategy Marketing, and Corporate Communication.


The Head of the Department extended a hearty welcome to Mrs & Mr Sivakumar, Write IT Solutions. HOD appreciated the AIT coordinators and students effort in organizing the symposium and motivated them in their future endeavor. The lamp was lit by the chief guest followed by the talk. The session lasted for about half an hour. She spoke about the Innovation of Technology and Innovation due to technology.


Ms. Hemavathy.R, Treasurer/AIT delivered the vote of thanks. The inaugural function came to an end with the presenting of memento to the resource person by the Head of the Department.


Around 350 students from various colleges participated in the technical events organized. Techtalk, Code Blooded, Web design, Dekryp't, Ultimate Manager, CreateIcon were the technical events conducted. Mini projects were done by second year IT students and the demonstration of the projects were given by the project members.


The event came to an end with the valedictory function presided by Mr Suresha.S, General Manager, Information Services, TAFE, Simpsons Pvt Ltd. Students who won first and second prizes in technical events were awarded with cash prizes and merit certificates by the chief guest.

Guest Lecture on Evolution of Computer Architecture


On the 22nd of August 2016, Ms Janani Ambrish delivered a lecture on "Evolution of Computer Architecture". She was introduced by Ms. Hemavathy of III yr IT 'A'. She has extensive experience in multiple phases of the Software Development Life Cycle. She is well versed in both Waterfall and Agile methodologies of the Software development models. She is a key member of CISCO Chennai’s University Relations track for on boarding of fresh graduates & other new employees.


The Head of the Department inspired the students to participate actively and make optimum use of these opportunities.


The session lasted for about an hour. She started with the software architecture and explained various types of architecture with their advantages and disadvantages. She also explained the need of cloud services for microservices based application.

Guest Lecture on Cloud Computing and Automation


On the 13th of July 2016, the Association of Information Technologists (AIT) was inaugurated by Mr. R.Gopalakrishnan, Solution Architect.


He delivered a lecture on “Cloud Computing and Automation”. He was introduced by Ms.R.Hemavathy, III year IT 'A'. He has over 18 years of experience in design and development of software products. He has experience in Project Development, System re-engineering, Enterprise Application Development and Integration, Real time system integration, Process Automation and DevOps.


The Head of the Department motivated the students to engage the inner spark in them. The lamp was lit by the chief guest and the introduction of Office bearers was given by Ms.K.Kiruthika Devi , Staff Coordinator, AIT.


The session lasted for about an hour. Resource person started the lecture with the need for Cloud computing followed by the Automation. He then explained the market reality monitor and ended the lecture with a question and answer session. The students got an insight about Data-analytics and cloud computing.

FDP on Grid & Cloud Computing


            The Department of Information Technology organized a Three-day faculty development programme on Grid & Cloud Computing (IT6713) from 9th to 11th JUNE 2016. 39 Faculty members from other colleges and 4 faulty members of our institution attended the program.


The day one started by invoking God's presence and a warm welcome by Dr. N. Kumaratharan, Professor and Program Coordinator. The inaugural function was presided by our Principal Dr.S. Ganesh Vaidyanathan M.E., M.S., Ph.D. His presidential address motivated the participants very much. He projected that faculty members have to deliver their views in innovative and informative approach. Dr.D.Balasubramanian, Head of the Department, Information Technology addressed the gathering about the origin of Cloud Computing and highlighted the applications of cloud computing in various disciplines. He emphasized faculty members to disseminate knowledge to students by innovative techniques.

National Conference on Communication and Informatics


            The Department of Information Technology organized a two-day National Conference on Communication and Informatics NCCI-2016 during 1st and 2nd April 2016. It was inaugurated by the industry expert Mr.G.Selvaganesan, Group Manager and Lead Consultant, L&T Infotech, Chennai in the presence of Dr.S.Ganesh Vaidyanathan, Principal, Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering. Students, Faculty members and research scholars from various Institutions in Tamilnadu presented their research concepts in the conference. 40 papers were shortlisted for presentation from the received 150 papers.
