NEWS OF THE MONTH

January 2020

Our college team "TRAXION RACING" consisting of Automobile and Mechanical Engineering students participated in the FORMULA BHARAT 2020 , held at Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India between January 22 and 26, 2020. Our team has secured the overall 29^th Rank out of 72 teams shortlisted among 150 teams in the first level of competitions. The event demands the designing and fabrication of a Formula Style Race-Car which can endure for 22 kms without any problems.

            The event is coordinated by Mr.R. Sakthivel, Assistant Professor/AUT ,            Mr.J.Sivaramapandian , Assistant Professor /MEC and supported by Dr.J. Venkatesan Professor & Head/ AUT and Dr.V. Ganesh, Associate Professor /AUT.

• One day work shop on “AUTOMOTIVE SUSPENSION SYSTEMS” organized by Dr. S. Premnath, Associate Professor, Mr. J. Dhanabal, Assistant Professor and Mr. R. Sakthivel, Assistant Professor, Department of Automobile Engineering on 9th January 2020, at Department of Automobile Engineering, Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Sriperumbudur, Chennai.

  

  

  November 2019

• Six Day Faculty Development Programme on “AUTOMOTIVE AIR - CONDITIONING” organized by Dr. J. Venkatesan, Professor & Head, Dr. V. Ganesh, Associate Professor and Mr. Ramanjaneyulu Kolla, Assistant Professor, Department of Automobile Engineering during 25th November to 30th November 2019, at Department of Automobile Engineering, Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Sriperumbudur, Chennai. The Six Day Faculty Development Programme was inaugurated by Dr. P. Shanmugam, Senior General Manager (R & D), Sundaram Fastener Limited, Chennai. He delivered inaugural address on the topic "Introduction to Air-Conditioning and Ozone Layer Depletion". This session was interesting and informative.

  The Valedictory of FDP was held on 30th November 2019 and it was facilitated by Dr. J. Venkatesan, Professor and Head, Department of Automobile Engineering, Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Sriperumbudur. The chief Guest delivered the valedictory address in the area of "Scope and opportunities in Automotive Air-Conditioning".

• Ten day workshop on “Automotive Embedded System with IoT and Cloud Computing” organized by Department of Computer Science and Engineering in association with Dr. J. Venkatesan, Professor & Head, Dr. V. Ganesh, Associate Professor, and Mr. R. Sakthivel, Assistant Professor, Department of Automobile Engineering during 17th to 26th June 2019.

• Two Day workshop on “FUNDAMENTALS OF VEHICLE DYNAMICS using MODERN TOOL” Organized by Dr. V. Ganesh, Associate Professor and Mr. Ramanjaneyulu Kolla, Assistant Professors during January 28th – January 29th 2019 at Automobile Engineering Department, Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Pennalur, Sriperumbudur, Chennai. The Workshop was inaugurated by Dr. R. Anitha, Professor and Head in Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering. She delivered inaugural address on the needs to attend such programme in order to stay updated in this highly competitive world.

  • Dr.S.Premnath, Associate Professor, Automobile Engineering Department Organized a Training Programme on Diesel Engine Management systems along with BOSCH Ltd at BOSCH Training Centre, Chennai. Fifteen students from Automobile engineering and ten students from Mechanical Engineering participated in the Programme

  • The Team Traxion, the team comprised of 15 Automobile Engineering Students and 10 Mechanical Engineering Students have participated in BAJA SAEINDIA 2018 guided by Mr. A.K. Boobalasenthilraj, Assistant Professor, Automobile Engineering organized by SAEINDIA from 25.01.2018 to 28.01.2018 at NATRAX Facility of NATRiP in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh.
  • The team TRAXION, consisting of 15 Automobile Engineering & 10 Mechanical Engineering students have participated FORMULA BHARATH 2018, guided by Mr. R. Sakthivel Assistant Professors of Automobile Engineering, secured 20th Rank out of 63 teams shortlisted among 300 teams in the first level of competitions held at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu from 24.01.2018 to 28.01.2018.
  • The students of III Year B.E. Automobile Engineering  Mithun. S.R and Prasanna Venkatesh. Bhave  received the Unique Idea Award in the competition TAFE INNOVISTA SEASON III, for their project titled "The Friction Finder" on 5th January 2018, awarded by TAFE Ltd., Chennai. Mentored by  Mr. A.K. Boobalasenthilraj, Assistant Professor.
  • The students of IV Year B.E. Automobile Engineering  Sai bernard. Y and V. Sudarsan have  received the Best Auto Solution Award 2018 in the competition TAFE INNOVISTA SEASON III, for their project titled "Design of intelligent fuel injection system for controlling wheel torque" on 5th January 2018, awarded by TAFE Ltd., Chennai. Mentored by  Dr. V. Ganesh, Associate Professor. 

  DECEMBER 2017

  • The students of B.E. Automobile Engineering (2013-17 Batch)  Sakthish Charan P, Mr. Sai Krishna B, Mr. Chidambaram SP  and Mr. Saravanan K  have  received the  Innovative Student Project Award at Bachelor Level - 2017 for their project titled "Design of variable braking system using intelligent dual calipers"on 15 ^th December 2017, awarded by Indian National Academy of Engineering, New Delhi, India. The mentor of the project work is Dr. V. Ganesh, Associate Professor, Department of Automobile Engineering.

  • Anna University approved Seven Day Faculty Development and Training Programme on “ AT6603 - Two and Three wheeler” Organized by Dr. V. Ganesh, Associate Professor and Mr .A. K. Boobalasenthiraj, Assistant Professors during 27^th to 05^th November 2017 at Automobile Engineering Department, Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Pennalur, Sriperumbudur, Chennai.
  • Department of Automobile Engineering organized AICTE SPONSORED TWO WEEK FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME on “Theory and Performance Evaluation of Automotive Vehicle Subsystems Using Modern Tools and Equipment”. Co-ordinator : Dr.J.Venkatesan, Co- Coordinators: Dr.S.Premnath & Mr.J.Dhanabal
  • V. Ganesan, Emeritus Professor, IITM, Chennai inaugurated the AICTE sponsored two week faculty development programme. Prof. Dr. M. Sivanandham, Secretary, Sri Venkateswara Educational and Health Trust, delivered the presidential address and Prof. Dr. S. Ganesh Vaidyanathan, Principal, Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, delivered special address in the inaugural function. 68 Participants registered for the programme.

  SEPTEMBER 2017

  • T. SASIKUMAR, MANAGING PARTNER, SRV ENGINEERING, Chennai inaugurated the Symposium TRAXION 2017 & AUTO EXPO held at Video hall, SVCE on 23^rd September 2017 and delivered a lecture on the topic “Manufacturing Process of Automotive Components” for the students. The various events conducted on the occasion include Paper Pitch, Brain Drain, Pit Stop, Head Start, AUTO EXPO, Spot Events and Demonstration of Mini projects by Second year B.E-Automobile Engineering students of SVCE. About 400 Students from various engineering colleges spread across the state of Tamil Nadu participated in the event. 
  • The Valedictory of Symposium TRAXION 2017 was presided over by Dr. K. Bhaskar, Professor & Head, Dept. of Automobile Engineering, REC held at Video hall, SVCE on 23^rd  September 2017. He distributed the prizes to the winners of the various events conducted and delivered a lecture on the topic “End of Life of Vehicle – Indian Scenario” for the students.

  SEPTEMBER 2016

  • A Memorandum of understanding (MoU) between SVCE and Hinduja Tech Limited , Chennai., Chennai was signed on 21^st September 2016 by Prof. S. Ganesh Vaidyanathan, Principal, SVCE and Mr. S. Ganapathyraman, Chief Financial Officer at Hinduja Tech Limited, Chennai. J. Venkatesan, HoD/AE and Dr. V. Ganesh were present during the MoU signing.
  • A Special lecture was delivered by R. Prabu, Deputy Manager, JCBL Marrel Automotive Ltd ,on 10.09.2016 in order to make the students of third year Automobile Engineering to face placement interviews confidently.

  AUGUST 2016

  • The Valedictory of Symposium TRAXION 2016 was presided over by K. Bhaskar, Professor & Head, Dept. of Automobile Engineering, SVCE held at Video hall, SVCE on 27th August 2016. He distributed the prizes to the winners of the various events conducted and delivered a lecture on the topic “Future of Automotive Design – An Overview” for the students.
  • Senthil Kumar Govindan, Principal Member - R & D, Tractors and Farm Equipments Ltd., Chennai inaugurated the Symposium TRAXION 2016 & AUTO EXPO held at Video hall, SVCE on 27^thAugust 2016 and delivered a lecture on the topic “Field to Table – A Green Revolution” for the students. The various events conducted on the occasion include Paper Pitch, Brain Drain, Pit Stop, Head Start, AUTO EXPO, Spot Events and Demonstration of Mini projects by Second year B.E-Automobile Engineering students of SVCE. About 220 Students from various engineering colleges spread across the state of Tamilnadu participated in the event.
  • The Association of Automobile Engineers (AAE) & SAE Collegiate Club of SVCE was inauguratedby Mr. V. P. Ranganathan, DGM (Engg. & Development), Simpson & Co. Ltd., Chennai for the Academic year 2016-17 held at Biotech Conference hall, SVCE on 25^th July 2016. He also delivered a lecture on the topic “Careers In Automotive Industries”.

  • Thirty Third Rank in SAE SUPRA 2016
  • Our college team "Traxion" consisting of Automobile and Mechanical Engineering students participated in the SAE SUPRA 2016. Our team has obtained the overall 33^rd Rank out of 173 teams participated in the event  held at Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India between July 04 and 09, 2016. The event demands the designing and fabrication of a Formula Style Race-Car which can endure for 22 kms without any problems.
  • The following members from the team had represented team Traxion at SAE SUPRA 2016 Technical Inspection which was hosted at the time of event held on 06^th ­­­­­­­­July 2016.

  • J. Venkatesan, Professor has given Special Lecture on "Perspective Projection" and Valedictory address in Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Engineering Graphics on 18.06.2016 at SVCE.
  • A memorandum of understanding between SVCE and M/s eStaarMax Technologies Private Limitedwas signed by S. Ganesh Vaidyanathan, Principal, SVCE, Sriperumbudur and  Mr. Swaminathan. T, Managing Director, M/s eStaarMax Technologies Private Limited , Valasarvakkam, Chennai on 3^rdJune 2016 for conducting Design software in the field of Automobile Engineering for SVCE students.

  • TEAM TRAXION secured 56th rank in the main BAJA SAEINDIA 2016 (Design & fabrication of an All Terrain Vehicle) event held at NATRIP test track, Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh between Feb 16-21, 2016 in which about 149 teams all over India participated.

Ramanan, General Manager - Corporate Quality & Training, Western Thomson Groupinaugurated the Symposium TRAXION 2015 & AUTO EXPO held at Function hall, SVCE on 29^thAugust 2015 and delivered a lecture on the topic “Manufacturing Excellence in Automotive Industries” for the students. The various events conducted on the occasion include Paper presentation, Auto Quiz, Business plan, DC Rally, AUTO EXPO, Spot Events and Demonstration of Mini projects by Second year B.E-Automobile Engineering students of SVCE. About  220 Studentsfrom various engineering colleges spread across the state of Tamilnadu participated in the event.

  • The Association of Automobile Engineers (AAE) & SAE Collegiate Club of SVCE was inaugurated byM. Senthil Kumar, Associate Professor, Department of Automobile Engineering. M.I.T Campus, Anna University for the Academic year 2015-16 held at Function hall, SVCE on 20^th July 2015.   • Four of Automobile Engineering syudents undergone 15 days internship programme in M/s Defiance Technologies Limited (A Hinduja Group Company) as an outcome of III cell activities.

  • Mr.C.Pradeep, Senior Manager, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. inaugurated the Symposium TRAXION 2014 & AUTO EXPO held at Function hall, SVCE on 1st September 2014 and delivered a lecture on the topic “Opportunities & Challenges in the Indian Automobile Industries” for the students. The various events conducted on the occasion include Paper Tech, Auto Quotient, Auto Cross, Moto Rally, AUTO EXPO, Spot Events and Demonstration of Mini projects by Second year B.E-Automobile Engineering students of SVCE. About  220 Students from various engineering colleges spread across the state of Tamilnadu participated in the event.

  • The SAE Collegiate Club of SVCE conducted SAE TIER I competitions in our college campus on 16.08.2013. The students of Automobile engineering and Mechanical engineering department participated in various events like Technical Paper Presentation, Auto Quiz, Modeling&Animation, Computer Aided Analysis and Business Plan etc.

   

  • Traxion ’13 the national level technical symposium held by the department of Automobile Engineering at SVCE will take place with much fanfare on the  20th of August. A lot of events including Race on, Auto Cross, Paper Presentation, Auto Quotient , among others will be taking place on that day. The crown jewel of the symposium will be the Auto Expo, with cars like : Mercedes SLK AMG, Range Rover Evoque, etc..,

  • Our college team "TEAM TRAXION (A Group of Automobile & Mechanical Engineers)" has qualified to appear for the main BAJA SAEINDIA 2014 to be held at Pithampur, Madhyapradesh. This is based on the presentation made by our team in VIRTUAL BAJA SAEINDIA held on 26&27th July 2013 at Sri Venkateshwara college of Engineering, Bangalore in which about 325 odd teams all over India participated in the event.

  • Our college team TEAM TRAXION which consists of 15 Automobile Engineering &10 Mechanical Engineering students guided by the faculty of Automobile Engineering secured 15th rank (Ranked 2nd in South India and Ranked 1st in Chennai region) among 120 teams participated in the BAJA SAE INDIA 2013 held at NATRIP, Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh between Feb 14&17, 2013.

  • This month saw a series of many events, right from a few companies coming for placement, to our college getting selected in Virtual BAJA.

   

  • Our SVCE college team "TEAM TRAXION (A Group of Automobile & Mechanical Engineers)" has qualified to appear for the main BAJA SAEINDIA 2013 to be held at Pithampur, Madhyapradesh. This is based on the presentation made by our team in VIRTUAL BAJA SAEINDIA held on 24th & 25th August 2012 at Bangalore Institute of Technology, Bangalore. in which about 262 odd teams all over India participated in the event.

  August 2012:

  • The month of August saw the Anna University giving out its results all across Tamil Nadu on the 18th before the wee hours of Midnight.

   

  • Traxion ’12 the national level technical symposium held by the department of Automobile Engineering at SVCE will take place with much fanfare on the 24th of August. A lot of events including RC rage, Turbo Quiz, Paper Presentation, among others will be taking place on that day. The crown jewel of the symposium will be the Auto Expo, with cars like jaguars, Audi, Porsche which came in last year who knows what to expect this year!!..

   

  • The BAJA is an annual competition conducted by SAE every year where each college is to make an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) according to SAE rules and regulations and race it at the NATRIP track near Indore. Our College is to participate this month in the preliminary (Virtual) round of this competition on the 25th of this month. All the best to the Team!

  July 2012:

  • The Association of Automobile Engineers and the Society of Automobile Engineers have been inaugurated for the year 2012-13. The event was Honoured by the presence of Dr. V. Ganesan, noted automobile Pioneer and scientist. Dr. V. Ganesan talked about the future of the Internal combustion engine and gave us many a hope and advice!

   

  • The Efficycle competition is an annual event conducted by SAE to make an efficient Hybrid 3-wheeler and compete with many a college. It is with great pleasure that it is said that our college team has been selected for the main event to be held on October amongst many colleges decided by means of a showdown presentation. The presentation was panelled by an esteemed list of judges hailing from the industry.

  March 2012:

  • A Guest lecture on the topic “Awareness on product homologation requirements” was delivered on 14.03.2012 by Mr.S.ARUN, Divisional Head, Ashok Leyland.

   

  • Mr.Mathivanan, AGM, Delphi-TVS delivered a guest lecture on the topic “Emission Norms and Testing” on 18.03.2012.

   

  • The valedictory of Association of Automobile Engineers (AAE) & SAE Collegiate Club of SVCE for the academic year 2011-12 was presided by Mr.S.SHANMUGAM, Managing Director, Design Desk Pvt. Ltd., Chennai on 26.03.2012. He also delivered a lecture on the topic “How to design a career”.

  • TEAM TRAXION secured 40 th rank in the main BAJA SAEINDIA 2012  event held at Pithampur, Madhyapradesh between Feb 16-19, 2012 in which about 100 teams all over india participated.

  • Industry Institute Interaction meeting organised by the department of Automobile Engineering was conducted on 2.12.2011. Industry members from Ashok Leyland, TAFE, Gattes Unitta attended the meeting.
