Common Awards
Gold medals are awarded to first-rank holders, and silver medals are awarded to second-rank holders in each program.
Budding Bright Engineer Award
This award was instituted by the Alumni Association of SVCE in 2008, reflecting its strong commitment to promoting academic excellence and supporting deserving students. Open to all undergraduate departments, the award follows a merit-cum-means criterion, ensuring that recipients are selected based on both their academic performance and
financial need. The recognition includes a cash prize and a certificate of merit, serving as both an encouragement and an acknowledgment of students’ hard work, while inspiring them to uphold the proud legacy of SVCE.
Outstanding NSS Volunteer Award
This award carries a citation and a cash prize. It is presented to third-year NSS lead volunteers (one male and one female undergraduate student) for their outstanding and exceptional all-round performance in NSS activities.
Panickker Award
This award was instituted by M/s Panickker Switch Gear Pvt. Ltd., Chennai. It is presented to a pre-final year undergraduate student for exceptional academic performance and significant contributions to professional activities. The award carries a citation, a rolling shield, and a cash prize.
Outstanding Sportsperson Award
This award carries a citation, a silver plaque, and a cash prize. It is presented to final-year undergraduate and postgraduate male and female students for exceptional performance in sports, contribution to the growth of sports in the college, and for encouraging fellow students to participate in sports activities.
Outstanding NCC Cadet Award
This award carries a citation, a silver plaque, and a cash prize. It is presented to a final-year undergraduate or postgraduate student for exceptional all-round performance in NCC.
Outstanding PG Student Award
This award carries a citation, a silver plaque, and a cash prize. It is presented to a final-year M.E./M.Tech. student for exceptional all-round performance in academics, professional activities, sports, NCC, etc.
Dr. Devaki Muthiah Endowment Award
This award carries a citation, a silver plaque, and a cash prize. It is presented to a final-year undergraduate student for exceptional all-round performance in academics, professional activities, sports, NCC, etc.
Department-Specific Awards
TAFE – Massey Ferguson Award
This award is presented for the best innovative final-year projects in Mechanical and Automobile Engineering. It carries a certificate and a cash prize.
CETHAR-CVL Awards
These awards were instituted by CETHAR-CVL, Tiruchirapalli. They are presented as follows:
- To a second-year student of E. Mechanical Engineering / B.E. Mechanical and Automation Engineering, carrying a certificate and a cash prize.
- To a third-year student of the same programmes, carrying a certificate and a cash
- To a final-year student of the same programmes, carrying a silver medal and a citation. These awards recognize exceptional all-round performance in academics, professional activities, sports, NCC, NSS, etc.
Outstanding Biotechnology Student Award
This award was instituted by the 2005–2009 batch of B.Tech Biotechnology in 2009. It carries a citation and a medal and is presented to a final-year B.Tech Biotechnology student for exceptional all-round performance in academics, professional activities, sports, NCC, NSS, etc.
Sree Hareehara Sudhan Educational Trust Award
This award was instituted by Mr. S. Tamilselvan, father of late Sri T. Hareehara Sudhan (B.Tech Chemical Engineering, 2000 batch). It carries a certificate and a silver medal and is presented to the college first-rank holder in B.Tech Chemical Engineering.
Dubasi Balakrishna Dora Award
This award was instituted by Dr. D. G. Rao, Retired Scientist & Head, CFTRI Resource Centre, Hyderabad, and former Professor of the Department of Chemical Engineering. It carries a citation and a silver medal.
Outstanding Civil Engineering Student Award
This award was instituted by the alumni of the Civil Engineering department. It carries a citation and a cash prize and is presented to a final-year B.E. Civil Engineering student based on outstanding overall performance in academics, as well as co-curricular and extra- curricular activities.
K. S. Girl Achiever Award
This award was instituted by Dr. K. S. Gayathri, an alumna (2009 batch) of the college, in honor of her father. It is presented to a girl student of third-year B.E. Computer Science and Engineering based on merit-cum-means criteria. The award carries a citation and a cash prize.
MSP Award of Excellence
This award was instituted by Mr. Subbu, son of Dr. K. R. Santha (HoD/EEE & Vice Principal), an alumnus (2007–2011 batch) of the college, in honor of his grandfather. It is presented to a final-year B.E. Computer Science and Engineering student for exceptional all- round performance in academics, professional activities,
sports, NCC, etc. The award carries a citation and a cash prize.
Dr. S. Thiruvengadam Award
This award was instituted by Dr. S. Thiruvengadam, former Professor of the EEE Department. It carries a citation and a cash prize and is presented to a third-year B.E. Electrical and Electronics Engineering student based on academic performance up to the fourth semester.
Rangachary Award
This award was instituted by Mr. Sriram Rangachary, an alumnus of the 1989 batch. It is presented to a final-year B.E. Electronics and Communication Engineering student for exceptional academic performance. The award carries a citation and a cash prize.
Athayee Elayappa Award
This award was instituted in 2015 by former Vice Principal Prof. E. G. Govindan in memory of his mother, late Mrs.Athayee Elayappa. It is presented to a final-year B.Tech Information Technology student for exceptional all-round performance in academics and co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The award carries a citation and a cash prize.
Dr. G. Bindumadhavan Award
This award was instituted by Dr. Bindumadhavan Gururajan, Associate Director and Senior Principal Scientist at Novartis Pharma R&D, Basel, Switzerland, and an alumnus of SVCE (B.Tech Chemical Engineering, 1994–1998). It is presented annually to a final-year B.Tech Chemical Engineering student in recognition of outstanding academic
performance and research excellence. The award comprises a citation and a silver medal.
Best Outgoing AI&DS Student Award
The “Best Outgoing AI&DS Student Award” was instituted by Dr. T. Rajasekaran, Associate Professor (CSE), for the students of B.Tech Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI&DS), as a gesture of gratitude towards the institution and to promote academic excellence. Instituted in 2024, the award is presented to the
outstanding final-year student based on merit, considering overall academic performance. It carries a cash prize and a certificate of merit.
Dr. G. Padmavathi Elangovan Award
This award was instituted by Dr. G. Padmavathi, a former Professor of the ECE Department. It carries a medal and a cash prize and is presented to a girl student of third-year B.E. Electronics and Communication Engineering based on exceptional academic performance and economic background.
Outstanding Marine Engineering Student Award
This award carries a citation, a gold medal, and a cash prize. It is presented to a final-year undergraduate student for exceptional all-round performance in academics, professional activities, sports, NCC, etc. The award was instituted by the Vasant J. Sheth Memorial Foundation and is conferred as the “Vasant J. Sheth Gold Medal.”
