Recognized Research Supervisor from Anna University
Dr. A. Sankaran has been recognized as a Supervisor(Ref. No: 3910013) for guiding PhD scholars of this University under the faculty of Civil Engineering.
Area of Specialization: Coastal Pollution, Waste water treatment, Nano composites.
Department of Marine Engineering offers only undergraduate degree programme, B.E.Marine Engineering. This course is globally governed by periodically amended International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) by International Maritime Organization (IMO), a specialized agency of United Nations (UN). STCW convention gives the guidelines for basic requirements on training, certification and watchkeeping for seafarers on an international level.
In India STCW requirements of training, certification and watchkeeping for seafarers are implemented by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), Mumbai, under the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India.
Marine Engineering department trains the students in line with the STCW guidelines which is predominantly skill-oriented. Research activities in the Marine Engineering department is limited to undergraduate level project.
Hence the higher-level research activities are carried out by the department faculty pursuing their PhD, in collaboration with Mechanical Engineering and Automobile Engineering departments of the college based on their specialization.
